I Want to Eat Up This Dining Room

Cozy Dining Room from Better Homes and Gardens

When I saw this room, it was love at first sight. But why? Maybe it’s the fanciful opposition of candy coated plastic chairs with an aged farmhouse table. Or maybe it’s the glossy black mantel and compact collection of stuffy landscape pantings. The walls are just very softly painted a pink blush, which is so flattering to skin tones. And then the modern shell capiz chandelier adds an ethereal quality to offset it all.

What I love. . . what I respond to, is the colors, textures, and juxtaposition of old and new. Remember our previous post about bringing a modern edge to a traditional home? Well, this is another wonderful example of just how comfortable and chic that combination can be.

For the artwork, scope out garage sales and thrift stores. What may look cliche and “granny” all on it’s own, just might look fantastic in a tight grouping. Remember that you can spray paint tired old pictures frames too.
