Rug High

Could there be anything more lovely than a rug inspired by the aerial view of tulip fields in holland? Yes, please, I’ll take 10 for a wall-to-wall carpet installation.  This rectangle of gorgeousness titled, Lisse,  is created by L E Design.

“L E Design is a contemporary rug design studio based in Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in 2009 by Glasgow School of Art graduate Liz Eeuwes, LE Design creates bespoke, hand knotted rugs of the highest quality.  The first collection is a range of artistic, textured rugs inspired initially by the rich colours and diverse patterns of the Scottish countryside. Agricultural landscapes from around the world inform the shapes and colours in each rug. A blend of pile heights and textures allow patterns to emerge and develop with the rugs as they age.”   from their website

My fave detail?

A little copse of trees dotting the miles and miles of country lanes.   No doubt providing shade for an old stone farmhouse.

I think I would smile everytime I walked into a room where one of these hand-knotted New Zealand Wool masterpieces awaited me.   Just imagine, in one walk across your living room you could visit Holland, Scotland, New Zealand…not to mention fields and fields of tulips, color wheels, farmhouses, wool, sheep, flightpaths and bird’s eye views.

Dear Liz Eeuwes,  thank you for creating such beauty. Much love from the bottom of my heart…and feet.

Rain chain

Rain chain

It’s raining today here in Austin, which is always a moment to celebrate, because it means I don’t need to water my lovelies in the garden. It’s kind of like pennies from heaven. Speaking of a shower of copper, make rain a landscape feature via beautiful rain chains… Rain chains, traditionally made of copper since [...]

Seen Around Town…

Seen Around Town…

Just picked up one of these wonderful GurglePots™ from Collectic Home on Bee Caves Rd. The $40 pitchers come in all sorts of luscious colors and the shape caught my eye immediatelly. They are created by Matt Ellison based on a pitcher he fell in love with when visiting France for his brother’s wedding.  Here’s [...]

A Field Day…

A Field Day…

These gorgeous images show how two artists,  Friederike Hamann and Colin Sullivan-Stevens conjure magic in their gallery called Field in Portland, Maine. I spent the better part of an afternoon wandering through their gallery by way of their  beautiful month-by-month posts…dating back to July 2006. Each month a newly designed storefront window hinted at the [...]
