Domitalia Fashion-160 Table at Urban Living
Current obsession = dining tables. Well, that’s one of them along with rugs and lounge chairs.
The options in dining tables are endless — modern or traditional, painted or stained, round or rectangle, new or vintage? Then with the addition of dining chairs, the entire look can change from expected to eclectic. We all know that chairs don’t need to match the table anymore, right? That’s another post. For now, I’ll just share my top choices for modern, chic dining tables. While shopping with a client at Urban Living, we discovered the stunning Fashion 160 table from Domitalia.
At first it seems rather simple, but then after closer examination it becomes clear that it’s brilliant in it’s simplicity. It’s designed with an expanding butterfly leaf from one end, allowing space for two more dinner guests. We were most impressed by it’s beautiful walnut wood finish and the sleek, tapered edge of the tabletop. If you will like to get your wood and build the table by yourself, check out these cheap prices from the Colorado lumber company.

Strut Table from BluDot
I’ve had a long standing love affair with the Strut tables from BluDot and have happily used them in several homes. The line includes three dining tables, a coffee table, a console table and side table. All are done up in glossy powder coated metal in watermelon, slate or ivory ( sadly, no more olive and pale blue). The beauty of this design is the striking line of the base and the narrow tabletop, which is a saving grace for tighter spaces. Check IF+D for samples of BluDot furniture.

Cucina Dining Table from Crate and Barrel
My new crush is this tasteful and modern take on the picnic table as a casual indoor dining table. The Cucina table from Crate and Barrel has a crisp trestle base in a cool taupe, which we find very refreshing for a change of pace. The best part is the genius table top surface: “100% recyclable Senso—a highly durable French flooring material by Gerflor®—is laid over choice hardwood to create a dining surface that is exceptionally resistant to heat, liquid, stains and abrasion. Each top is hand-distressed by Italian artisans to achieve an authentic, weathered texture that looks perfectly lived-in—no two are alike.” Perfect for a family of boys. Wrap one up, please.
So as not to overburden our dear readers, I’ll feature more tables along the vintage, rustic and traditional lines next time. Have you seen a table that you’re drooling over? Is so, let us know and we’ll add it to the list.

While scouting shops last week, we discovered this gorgeous felted wool rug at the Great Rug Company. And it is ON SALE. The colors palette is even better in person and the texture is divine, like intricate crewel work. We were instantly taken with this rug and decided that it is way too lovely to [...]

How do I choose the correct rug size for my room? Is there a rule to follow? There is no need to follow strict guidelines for rug size, but there is a general rule of proportion to keep in mind. A rug should extend a room outward or define specific islands of living space. Generally, [...]

Pink isn’t just for Barbie houses and bubble gum and sleuthing panthers. Pink is sweet, warm and soothing and a beautiful, surprisingly versatile color for many rooms. With the right pink, natural light creates a flush in the room (bonus: this is flattering to skin tones). We prefer pinks that have more of a peachy, coral [...]

What’s a daybed? When should one be used and where can I find one? A daybed is a twin size bed with a back and sides that also functions as a sofa. The “headboard” is the “back of the sofa” and can be loaded up with pillows during the day. At night, the bed is [...]
