Around Town: Catalog Dreaming on Such a Holiday

Pottery Barn Table Setting

Everyone knows that the Pottery Barn catalog (or maybe Martha Stewart Living) sets the standard for what our holiday  entertaining would look like in an ideal world with an endless budget and an uncluttered schedule. Of course we would have a color coordinated Christmas tree instead of a mish-mash of school craft projects, hand-me-down ornaments and clumps of silver tinsel!

If you’d like to pick up some catalog styling skills to translate to your table or tree, then take advantage of the Holiday Decorating and Entertaining class at Pottery Barn on November 28 and December 5 at 10:00. This is a complimentary class and everyone will receive a 10% discount to start their holiday shopping! The PB staff would appreciate your RSVP, so give your local store a jingle.

For our readers who prefer to shun fancy trimmings and keep their holiday bazaar look, we have a suggestion for you too. Drink a martini and enjoy the hilarious blog Catalog Living. Even better, pick up a catalog and make up your own “stories” for the glossy pictures (could be a party game ?) Here’s an example from Catalog Living to inspire you. . .

For goodness’ sake…

Elaine may have had to sell my favorite side table on Ebay, but that’s not going to stop me from my afternoon Sake ritual.
