Tweets from Italy

It’s so much fun to read what etsy artists write in their profiles. At her etsy storefront dimdi , the lovely Irene had me at:

My name is Irene.I’m an italian artist. I live in a lovely land of Italy where the nature and the animals are the principal richness.

I love the animals and nature … these are the principal inspirations of my art!

“Um, hello, Irene?  This is Curlin from the lovely land of Austin.  Can we be best friends?”

Her original watercolors of birds (and other lovely animals) make me want to spend an afternoon in her kitchen gabbing about all things art and animals and woodland menageries.  And can you say affordable, most original 8×10 pieces are $25.

Is it just me or do all of her watercolor creatures look as if they just remembered a funny little story?  It’s hard to pinpoint which brush stroke makes it so…but give a look and tell me what you see.

I highly recommend adding an dimdi original to your collection.  For the gorgeous swirls she glides onto the paper.   And almost as important, to me, the swirls of detail and color she chooses to leave out.

She captures the essence of her subjects with the least amount of brush strokes possible.  Her work is spare and light.  Which I think makes her a fine feathered artist to be sure!

How can I store and display my jewelry so it’s handy but still attractive? Not many gals use a jewelery box anymore because we like to see our options as we race out the door madly accessorizing. But a lot of girls and women like fashion and like fashion they buy a cute necklace .More [...]

In yesterday’s Q & A post on hooking some wall storage, I promised to provide resources and suggestions for not-so-ordinary wall hooks. Better late than never, I am finally delivering on that promise after some technical difficulties and distractions today. This is the kind of thing that I could research for hours, which I did, because I obsess over [...]

Q & A: How to Hook Some Storage

Q & A: How to Hook Some Storage

My dear client, Becky, sent me this question about family storage in the entry way. She has a charming vintage cottage that is full of character but short on transition spaces. I am looking at getting some hooks for the entry way by our front door.  We need to hang the kid’s backpacks low and [...]

The Printed Page as Art

The Printed Page as Art

I have this obsession with printed pages. Maybe it’s because my idea of heaven is being lost in a world of books, because I just adore print in art or interior design. To me, the background of a yellowed book page is the perfect, imperfect not-so-blank canvas. I was immediately drawn to these simple book [...]
